How do you complete MPO cable quality?

At S-MODUL, the answer is Interferometer Inspection.
MPO cable manufacturing at S-MODUL is carried out through a fully in-house process—from design and specification review to precision polishing, assembly, and basic optical performance testing (IL/RL).

Among these steps, polishing is a key process. It defines fiber height, coplanarity, and ferrule geometry—critical factors for proper multi-fiber contact.

However, these features cannot be verified by sight alone.
That’s why we use Interferometer Inspection.
Using non-contact, high-precision 3D measurement based on optical interference, interferometer inspection analyzes the MPO ferrule end-face and verifies:
• Fiber height
• Coplanarity
• Core dip
• Ferrule curvature & tilt

This ensures uniform and simultaneous fiber contact, which is essential for stable performance in 400G, 800G, and PAM4-based networks.
If polishing is the starting point of high-quality MPO manufacturing,
Interferometer inspection is its completion.
